Ready to Hang
The monkey is on my back... as painful as it may be.
I want my paintings to draw the viewer in and give good reason to step back. The depth and nuances throughout my paintings are achieved through the use of color, the levels of saturation, line intensity, and a layering process that is as much reductive as it is additive. The painting often simply emerges.
It is painted to the edges on a 1.5" gallery wrapped canvas. It needs no frame and it's ready to hang.
Chris is a professional artist with an emphasis in paint and ink. His creativity and interest in design began as a child in Wyoming where he was encouraged to submit artwork to local art and craft competitions. He studied art and architecture at the University of Wyoming and would later return to school to complete his Bachelors Degree in Fine Art at the University of Colorado at Denver. Soon after receiving his BFA, he exhibited landscapes and still-life paintings for a solo show at the Grand Salon in Denver. He moved to Philadelphia in 2004, where he displayed paintings and drawings at numerous venues, including a solo exhibit in 2005, titled "Ink & Paint" at Benna's Cafe. He also gained Best-In-Show in 2006, for a submission to Afif Gallery's themed exhibit, "Booze Stories." Chris has been working as a PGA golf professional in New Jersey and Maryland for the last decade. Most recently, his focus has transitioned back to his artwork and collaboration with his wife and two boys. Chris has an upcoming solo exhibit during the month of November 2016, at Gryphon Cafe (Wayne) in Pennsylvania. Chris' art can be found in private collections in nine states across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
