Ready to Hang
Bonsai cat is a mixed media piece that developed during the month of April 2015. I wanted to create a piece of art that was more like a recipe and left your eyes satisfied.
The background came first – which is watercolor, Lipton tea and sea salt, finished off with the bonsai tree and cat drawn in India ink and white charcoal. Then one Saturday morning, it decided it needed something additional – more three dimensional. The “rocks” are actually water colored eggshells, handpicked from a roost in Williamson New York. The final touches came from roots from my garden and some dried moss which peeks out from behind the rocks. The inspiration for this piece is my own cats and my love of Bonsai trees. They always seem to hold a sense of tranquility and peace.
This picture is under pressure ,the roots are firmly pressed between the glass and the matte board; I would suggest keeping it in its original frame so they are not disturbed.
Hi! A little background on my art - I only have one rule, and that is anything goes! Most of my pieces are not premeditated - I usually just feel like working in a certain medium - and then the next hour a different medium - so they all end up blending together. I will admit - I'm an original art hoarder - I buy other artists work, but refuse to sell my own. I spend hours with each piece and become very attached to them - but I need to start letting some of it go. Hopefully one of my pieces speaks to you! I live in upstate New York and my main inspirations are nature and my cats . Thanks for Looking!!
