Ezra Blackwood is an American abstract artist living in Central Connecticut. Hailing from the wonderful world of Human Resources, he discovered his passion and ability to create art after taking a leave of absence following a recent cancer diagnosis in 2016. After seeing and experiencing first-hand, both the therapeutic healing power and potential locked away within his own creative side, it is Ezra's fervent hope that he can inspire and encourage other's to exercise their own innate creative ability using his art. Intrinsically motivated and passionate, Ezra's original abstract art and digital paintings have been described as being both "captivating and alluring" simultaneously. The artist claims that pushing the limits of what is "normal" using abstract shapes, forms, colors, and lines so that what people see when viewing particular pieces of his is something that is very familiar to the eye, and yet it seems to also exists with a degree of independence from visual references in the world today. "As an artist, this is both my greatest challenge, as well as one of my greatest joys." Always abstract, undeniably unique, and yet still with a subtle hint of familiarity. That's the mark I aways aim for when creating art. But at the end of the day, if a piece of mine is only able to touch the mind, heart, or soul of just one person, if it garners just one smile from someone out there in the world, if it does anything beneficial at all for a single individual anywhere, then it has served its purpose and I couldn't be any happier or more grateful that it has done so. Ezra’s paintings can be found in private collections across Boston, Providence, West Hartford, New York, Miami, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Montreal, Toronto, Rome, and various other cities around the world.
