With my "A Study On..." series my initial aim for each project was to first channel my energy into a specific emotion while in the process of abstract spontaneity. In this instance the emotion that I channeled came up to only what I can describe as grace. Fluid serenity and an ease of calmness and tact assisted me in this painting. In the back I laid a foundation of gold that sets a venerable almost heavenly atmosphere. I laid a series free-form cloud and water like structures suspended in the center. A vertical stripe of white flows vertically through the left portion. I added the stripe of white recalling the spiritual feelings I had as a child in church and the prayer music books all had a stripe bisecting them and I always found that pleasing to the eye and something like a visual reminder of the vertical dimensions associated with spirituality.
My name is Evan Michaels Estrada and I am a San Antonio based artist and musician whose primary genres of painting are in the vein of abstract and expressionism. Through these genres I have come to define my personal art as being the mode of communication between myself, others and the nature of reality as told through the vocabulary of color, shape, and form as opposed to drawing strictly from topical stimuli and more so exploring the reactionary emotional element of the medium. I was originally raised in Anchorage, AK before returning to Texas. In 2009 I began to study art and music at Northwest Vista College where I was first exposed to the artworks of Max Ernst, Jean Michele Basquiat and Jackson Pollack from whom inspired me to start painting. Currently I am a Picture Framer at Kurt Youngbloods Framing and Art.
