Coming from a very southern and religious family, I am fascinated by portraying religious symbols in different ways. This little white church is very similar to the little church I went to as a child, and the forest was inspired by a beautiful part of a local trail I found. I felt that combining the two along with a slightly sinister figure would make and intriguing setting for the viewer to put themselves into. A combination of beautiful yet unsettling images and colors and the green of the wood grain.

My name is erin bower and I am a self taught painter and muralist located in Austin Tx. I graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Graphic design about a year ago. But since graduating I have focused on bettering my painting skills and decided to follow my passions in fine art. Because I am self taught, many of my paintings are literally studies in how to paint. Different skin tones, lighting and scenery all look different, so trying to understand these subtleties takes practice. I love the fact that I am constantly growing and changing as an artist and I believe that can be seen through the progression of my work. I hope those who look at my work can see this and appreciate that time and love that has gone into it.
