In 2010 I had the opportunity to visit South Africa after connecting with a family living there. After a week stay I knew I wanted to live there and booked a second trip in November to visit and explore places t live and employment. Shortly before the trip I was introduced to Dana, who became my wife in 2014. I took the month trip, knowing I couldn't move to Africa without going back for Dana. Instead of investing in job searching, I paid for experiences. Those experiences included hiking mountains, flying in ultralights, and going shark diving in Gansbaai. I returned to the states, later married my wife, and we are traveling back to South Africa this year to introduce Dana to my South African family.

"Great White" captures my feelings at that time, poised on the edge of an unknown adventure, but turning back to look towards the warmth closer to shore.
