This is a mixed media piece consisting of watercolor, gouache, and sharpie marker on canvas. I created this piece while experimenting with different techniques and was going for a tranquil water scene with multiple bright colors. The title "Just Keep Swimming" was chosen as a reference to the movie Finding Nemo, although there are no visual references to the actual movie, the saying was my inspiration to completing the piece until I felt all the final details were in place. This is an unframed piece that is approximately 16 x 19 inches.
Erica Parsons is a working artist and art educator based out of State College, PA and has received her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Pennsylvania State University. She is a middle school art teacher and teaches realistic drawing classes to students, faculty, and staff at Pennsylvania State University as well. She primarily works in the mediums of graphite, charcoal, acrylics, oil paints, and watercolors while focusing on realistic subject matter. However she has also recently began to experiment with abstract art and its techniques and processes. She believes that her work as an artist is a continuous evolutionary process and that the journey is more important than the destination. Salvador Dali said "Have no fear of perfection- You'll never reach it" and Erica strives to keep this mind when working on every piece being that she often remains so focused on the details within her realistic work. She finds inspiration in everyday objects, people, places, and things and feels that art should be for everybody-not exclusive but rather inclusive. She believes that there is something out there for everybody and encourages support for all artists striving to follow and pursue their passion of creating, inspiring, dreaming, and doing through all artistic mediums.
