'Up from Above', has undergone many transformations. This is one of the paintings I filmed and put on YouTube and on my Website. It has gotten a lot of attention, yet only now has it been finalized and put up for sale. 'Up from Above', has a simple yet complex vision, depending on how you view the subject. It is most certainly surreal, although it comes from an idea which is very old and somewhat regarded as taboo, religious, spiritual, and often Godly, The Burning Bush. I recently added the swirling white and black to the trunk, as I knew it was missing something, it was light. I wanted the tree to glow from within, not from without.

Curator's Note: I particularly enjoy how the artist uses the same marble-like application across the composition, but uses color to differentiate one form from the next.

I stumbled into painting some would say late in life, yet I had always searched for a positive way to express myself, however fleeting. Painting rapidly became an obsession as I soon realized that what I had been looking for wasn’t at all what I was expecting. This creative means of expression didn’t have to be beautiful and it certainly didn’t have to make sense. It was most often spontaneous, surreal, and subconscious. This style of painting as I now understand it has been vividly explored and technically termed as Abstract Expressionism. However, painting in the moment is whatever I need it to be, regardless of the term. I do not feel the need to follow any artistic rules or format as this would cross grain dramatically with what I am trying to accomplish with my art.
