'Memories of the Sun', was painted to follow suit with my current abstract study. I am following closer and closer to reflective lines right now and want to pursue this a bit. I have a few very favorite artists that paint with some similarity yet very different, if that makes sense. 'Memories of the Sun', is painted with an absolute meaning and a purpose, even the title is very descriptive and calculated. This painting is of great memories, all which surround the flow of water and the sun. Typically memories created in a setting such as this are pretty terrific, I have many incredible memories around this exact setting. This painting was and is emotional, in a very good way. The colors are close to what they may be in real life, yet with a vivid surreal feel, this with most of my other paintings is not by accident.

Curator's Note: As one of our most popular artists, Eric constantly produces new ways of exploring color, texture, and free form patterns.

I stumbled into painting some would say late in life, yet I had always searched for a positive way to express myself, however fleeting. Painting rapidly became an obsession as I soon realized that what I had been looking for wasn’t at all what I was expecting. This creative means of expression didn’t have to be beautiful and it certainly didn’t have to make sense. It was most often spontaneous, surreal, and subconscious. This style of painting as I now understand it has been vividly explored and technically termed as Abstract Expressionism. However, painting in the moment is whatever I need it to be, regardless of the term. I do not feel the need to follow any artistic rules or format as this would cross grain dramatically with what I am trying to accomplish with my art.
