This is an oil painting "From the High Line", a series of oils painted from the viewpoint of the High Line Park in Manhattan, looking down over 10th Ave in Chelsea on a stunning June Day!
The unique vantage point offered fascinating views and perspectives of my favorite city!
I could not resist the scene of workers repairing a street light in the middle of 10th Ave, complete with bright orange cones surrounding the work scene near a famous pizza restaurant, Artichoke Basille's! This colorful lively scene caught my eye, complete with advertising signs and quirky architecture and regular New Yorkers going on with their daily routines.

My name is Ellen Bradshaw. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. My work was influenced by the realism of the Ashcan painters of the 1910-30's, as well as the sense of color and atmosphere explored by the Impressionists. My usual subject is New York City. "I'm drawn to the common everydayness of life in the city, and perhaps what is hidden just beneath the surface of the ordinary. The reflective moody quirky streets of Lower Manhattan are my usual subjects - the neighborhoods, the personalities of her buildings, the majesty of her bridges, the streets transformed by snow or the colors of night, the lone figures of daily routine, the everyday intensity of the simple passing of moments against that in-your-face reality that is New York City." My landscape paintings depict the beautiful Finger Lakes Region in upstate Western New York. I have exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, concentrating on a specific theme for each series in my NYC collections. My web site is ellenbradshaw.com I have been President of Pleiades Gallery in Chelsea since 2000.
