I love the ocean and this piece was a spontaneous work in which I imagined ocean waters and had fun applying the paint in whatever manner felt natural in the moment. The white areas of "spray" were texturized with a palette knife. My movement from greens to blues shows up frequently in my more abstract work, as I enjoy feeling and seeing the shift in temperature across the canvas. This piece is not painted to the edge but the canvas is thin and its well suited to any frame.
My name is Liz and I am a mother of five and a children's photographer. I've always loved painting and graphic design, and have studied both over the years in between having children, along with drawing. Oil painting is my preferred method and while abstract pieces come more easily I enjoy a variety of subjects, including life drawing which I also studied along the way. I love nature, beautiful, shiny things, bold color and light. My other hobbies include swimming, biking and running, and I am an Ironman finisher. In addition to my 5 children, I have two Chorkies named Sabie and Pepper. I live in Central Illinois but plan to head for a warmer climate near the ocean once the kids are grown.
