I love Money Tree plants. This was a little brand new one I had and decided to use as part of a still life exercise focused on lights and darks and painted in brown, monochromatic tones. The candle and tomatoes were extras that I decided to add. It is the leaf texture and roundness of the (yellow) pot that I enjoy the most about this painting. It is in a thin canvas and would look great in a chunky white frame (the whites in the painting would pop), or a deep brown or black one.
My name is Liz and I am a mother of five and a children's photographer. I've always loved painting and graphic design, and have studied both over the years in between having children, along with drawing. Oil painting is my preferred method and while abstract pieces come more easily I enjoy a variety of subjects, including life drawing which I also studied along the way. I love nature, beautiful, shiny things, bold color and light. My other hobbies include swimming, biking and running, and I am an Ironman finisher. In addition to my 5 children, I have two Chorkies named Sabie and Pepper. I live in Central Illinois but plan to head for a warmer climate near the ocean once the kids are grown.
