iPod in color was inspired by a graphic design piece I created in class. The assignment was to pull something out of our bag and make an abstract representation of it. The process involved many, many sketches of parts, pieces, thoughts and ideas about the object - my old iPod in its ribbed, red case and the dangling white ear buds. I then did a free drawing, incorporating my favorite sketches and rendered it in Illustrator. The black and white design was a great success and so I decided to paint it and give it a different life with color.

My name is Liz and I am a mother of five and a children's photographer. I've always loved painting and graphic design, and have studied both over the years in between having children, along with drawing. Oil painting is my preferred method and while abstract pieces come more easily I enjoy a variety of subjects, including life drawing which I also studied along the way. I love nature, beautiful, shiny things, bold color and light. My other hobbies include swimming, biking and running, and I am an Ironman finisher. In addition to my 5 children, I have two Chorkies named Sabie and Pepper. I live in Central Illinois but plan to head for a warmer climate near the ocean once the kids are grown.
