I created this piece after falling in love with some work I saw at our local art festival one year. This particular artist showcased pieces consisting of furniture only, and I loved them. This, along with another painting I did of a chair, are loosely based on her work, and were experiments for me. The warm to cool background was something I had fun spontaneously creating. The couch itself was painted from a photograph but the background completely imagined.
My name is Liz and I am a mother of five and a children's photographer. I've always loved painting and graphic design, and have studied both over the years in between having children, along with drawing. Oil painting is my preferred method and while abstract pieces come more easily I enjoy a variety of subjects, including life drawing which I also studied along the way. I love nature, beautiful, shiny things, bold color and light. My other hobbies include swimming, biking and running, and I am an Ironman finisher. In addition to my 5 children, I have two Chorkies named Sabie and Pepper. I live in Central Illinois but plan to head for a warmer climate near the ocean once the kids are grown.
