Life is spent trying to make order. We rely on our imperfect senses, fragile memories,
internet searches and culture to build our own narratives and ideologies.
Painting connects me to the humanness of making, filling the in-between spots where words are impotent, allowing myself and thereby the viewer to connect to what makes us all. Painting reveals the multiplicity of perceived illusory realities.

Elizabeth Porcel was born and raised in Long Island, NY. She studied at the Pratt Institute, completed an AAS in Mortuary Science at Nassau Community College and completed her BFA (summa cum laude) in painting at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. It is through this unusual culmination of experience where Porcel draws her inspiration. . Her work utilizes the process of painting as a means of deconstruction, examination and meditation of the subject often-referencing scientific data, craft and the domestic. She has exhibited nationally and lives and works in the greater Atlanta area.
