This painting is part of a series I did where the initial layer is a watercolor study of a domestic subject, later the work is revisited with acrylic paint markers. Automatic drawings fill in bridging the gap between the subconscious and the domestic environment. Elaborating on the personal environment is a way to explore spiritual nondualism in paint.
Elizabeth Porcel was born and raised in Long Island, NY. She studied at the Pratt Institute, completed an AAS in Mortuary Science at Nassau Community College and completed her BFA (summa cum laude) in painting at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. It is through this unusual culmination of experience where Porcel draws her inspiration. . Her work utilizes the process of painting as a means of deconstruction, examination and meditation of the subject often-referencing scientific data, craft and the domestic. She has exhibited nationally and lives and works in the greater Atlanta area.
