Elena Zaharia creates pop art paintings and new medias designs. By using popular themes such as sexuality and everyday life, Her use of colors are visions that reflect a sensation of indisputability and serene contemplation, combined with subtle details of eccentric or odd elements. By emphasising aesthetics, she seduces the viewer into a world of ongoing equilibrium and the interval that articulates the stream of daily events. Moments are depicted that only exist to punctuate the human condition in order to clarify our existence and to find poetic meaning in everyday life. Her works often refers to pop and mass culture. Using symbols she creates situations and breaks the passivity of the spectator, she touches various overlapping themes and strategies. Her works sometimes radiate descriptive intensities of emerging beauty. The inherent visual seductiveness, along with the conciseness of the exhibitions, further complicates the reception of their manifold layers of meaning.
Originally from a little town in Romania, a former comunist country, I spent my childhood in communism and I I knew hunger, I knew pain, and what I experienced most of all – was fear. A deep, breath-taking fear that crushed your voice inside your ribs. You didn’t look up, you didn’t ask Why, you just obeyed. I started out painting with watercolour and later studied technical drawing as part of my engineering qualifications. Digital design offered the perfect blend of art and science and my fascination began. Now I breath and live colorfully and fell free to do that!
