Being a very curious person from a young age, I am compelled to explore the seemingly mundane elements around me. I am encouraged to take something very ordinary and experiment in any way possible to find some beauty or otherwise allure to capture the unexpected. When I put paint to canvas I consciously allow myself to have no expectations of the finished piece of work but rather let my intuitions lead me hopefully in the right direction.
I start with a thought either real or imagined and incorporated my experiences and /or mood at the of the work. I oftentimes will go back to a previous work I have left intentionally unfinished and breathe into it additional life , always looking for that little extra quirky element to set me apart from the ordinary. Sometimes the time element between painting sessions has allowed my thoughts to gel in a different direction making for a more interesting and more fulfilling creation I am proud to display.
I am totally in awe of nature, though not always beautiful , to me the beauty lies in a curious sense of perfection in perpetual motion. Through design, bold colour, mixed media or anything else I desire to “throw” at the canvas, I strive to capture a moment of its allure and with that make an impact, a statement of who I am.

EILEEN MILLER I have lived in Montreal all my life and have been painting since the age of 10. Over time I have studied under Marilyn Rubinstein and Herman Heimlich at the Sayde Bronfman Centre in Montreal, and with Hungarian artist Leslie Schalk. In spite of these years of training, I consider myself to be self taught I feel most comfortable when I am surrounded by my work. It fosters the opportunity to express my deepest and most vivid emotions. The outside world disappears! Painting should have a sense of mystery. I feel my work has an edge; something in it that takes a moment, a second look, an effort to comprehend. As with all art, what you pull from my paintings depends on your own experiences - but what a wonderful opportunity to explore emotions in the sometimes bold and sometimes subtle colours.
