Ready to Hang
The title "Happy Pappy" of this expressive painting, helps focus on the ageless emotion of happiness. It is my intent to give hope to all that there is no age limit on happiness. There is no class, race, faith or position in life that defines happiness. To be happy in life is a state of outlook rather than money or success. To look upon the work is to join in the universal feeling of happiness. While painting, I couldn't help but smile. As a finished work, it still makes me smile whenever I study it. As the artist, the emotion transcend the brushwork, composition, colors or the lights and darks the define the subject. A work that was pure joy to paint.
The edges are painted and may be hung unframed or framed.
Art and creativity has always been part of who I am, but I only really started to focus on painting full time at the age of 50, following a long and successful career in advertising. As an artist, I love working in many different styles and exploring a wide range of subject matters. The beauty of online galleries lies in their eclectic art collections, and without the pressure of brick and mortar galleries dictating what I paint, I am free to paint whatever inspires me. Painting for me is an experience of falling headlong into inspiration. An image I come across will stick in my head and refuse to leave until it finds its way onto the canvas. My work is visually diverse, and there are very few painting styles that don’t inspire me in someway or another. My paintings range from abstract and cubist, to impressionistic and realistic. Most recently, I’ve been inspired by quirky and retro TV shows to tell a story through my paintings. The lighting and cinematography of these shows inspire me to paint dramatic moments in time, and I create unique, intriguing characters that are open to interpretation.
