Ready to Hang

"Monkey See, Monkey Do" is a playful, interactive piece full of color, direction and movement. Contrasting elements and shapes draw the viewer in and out, and colors keep the piece upbeat and enjoyable.

This piece was created as a companion piece to another. The title comes from the back and forth process I experienced while painting these side by side. The pieces compliment one another but aren't exact replicas, adding interest to any wall in your home. This piece is ready to hang by itself or with its companion and would provide a pop of energy to any gallery wall.

My work is characterized by bold, gestural brush strokes. As a nod to my analytical roots in photography and architecture, I approach each piece with a mathematical mindset - counting evens and odds, balancing lights and darks, visually "slicing" each piece into thirds and fifths. Every attempt is made to respect the materials, allowing each to do its thing with subtle direction. Every piece is a problem to solve: combining and contrasting elements with and against one another to create a cohesive and engaging piece.
