Even prior to becoming an artist I can remember how attracted I was to vibrant colors and unique textures. I have tried to incorporate this into all of my art. I like to use my surroundings as inspiration in my selection of colors and textures. My paintings are never planned or laid out and all are one-of-a-kind. No duplicates or ever made. I am constantly reminded of the endless possibilities of creating something different in everyone of my pieces. That in itself is inspiration for me to continue to do what I love. I have studied other encaustic artists and have strived to develop my own technique which I believe every artist should do.
My name is Earl Robinson. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I began my art career as a stained glass artist over 22 years ago. I was inspired and fascinated by the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany and his use of color, texture and shadowing as to create paintings in glass. If you years ago I carried this inspiration to a new medium "ENCAUSTIC". What is "ENCAUSTIC"? ENCAUSTIC is the manipulation of hot beeswax mixed with color pigment. The hot beeswax is applied to specialized paper, much like photo paper which has a glossy finish. This type of paper is made specifically for encaustic paints, providing a service that allows the free-flowing application of the hot wax which is applied by hot irons and stylus. This is one of the oldest art forms on earth dating back to ancient Egypt. The colors are vibrant, the resulting forms and textures unique and the resulting artwork a joy to look at.
