Everything around me is a painting. Whatever I find pleasing to the eye I want to paint. Flowers? Sure! Tulips, daffodils, the first crocus...I love them all and paint them all.
A quiet room with the light coming in through a curtained window? How could I not want to paint that? Some days I'll paint a row of wooden spoons just because they are in my kitchen. I paint shoes, quilts, teapots...whatever captures my fancy.
My work has been featured in various local shows. Truth be told when a collector purchases one of my paintings I have to take a deep breath to keep myself from saying, "Oh no...that paintings not for sale!" II love each and every piece of art I create but take solace in knowing when a collector purchases one of my paintings it will become a part of their lives, treasured and loved.
My name is Doreen Tome, a Vango artist, a lover of nature who takes delight in everyday life in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Please take your time exploring my portfolio. I have been greatly influenced by my art contemporaries here in the West, whose friendships and esteem I have enjoyed. My art is notable in it's refreshing approach to life, vigorous use of color and innate sense of warmth. My work is an extension of me. Come to my home, walk through my garden. The flowers you see about to bloom will also be blooming on the walls of my home. The teapot nestled in the corner of my cupboard has a twin painted by me, hanging beside a potted red geranium. If you look more carefully you're bound to notice a couple of pair of hiking shoes , a backpack filled with artist's paints and brushes, a ball cap and a water bottle or two. I hike everyday, I write everyday and I paint everyday. Look deep into my work and you'll see me and my appreciation of all that surrounds me.
