Curator's Note: Working with fine lines and shadow gradients, the artist produces subjects in sharp detail. A familiar scene becomes complex and engaging with the use of depth, color, and bisecting lines.
This is a watercolor and gouache (opaque watercolor) painting showing the interplay of flowers and a spider web from a backyard in California.
I'm a self-taught award winning artist, that has painted for over 20 years. Until 2007, my full-time job was as an aerospace engineer. I participated in my first exhibit in 2007, and have since been in various juried shows, including a showing at Filoli Garden. I had two paintings accepted into the Triton Museum of Art's 2012 Statewide Watercolor Competition and Exhibition (out of approximately 500 entries, 90 were selected). At the 2010 Annual Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society (SCVWS) Member Show I won the "Beyond the Surface" Award and received a Third Place finish in the "Popular Choice" category. I also received a University Art Sponsor Award at the 2011 SCVWS Member Show. My work has been displayed at several art galleries in Northern California.
