Ready to Hang

"Solitary Kiss" is a Mixed Media on 36" x 18" canvas with tissue paper, acrylic paint oil pastel and matte varnish. It needs no frame because it is painted on the sides and is ready to hang horizontally or vertically, whichever you prefer.

I love neutral colors and especially black and white and bold graphic elements. I designed this piece to signify a single kiss in the midst of hugs.

Donine has a passion for all types of art mediums, and for the last four years has been focusing on Mixed Media. In the 70s, she created batiks and macrame as wall hangings and sculptural pieces and won awards in several art fairs. In the 80s and 90s, her career in Graphic Design afforded Donine an avenue for learning digital art. Some recent gallery showings have been at the Adamson Gallery, the Sacramento Temporary Contemporary Gallery, ArtHouse, Hot Italian Restaurant in Sacramento, the Rancho Cordova City Hall, Davis Art Center, ACAI of Carmichael, Blue Line Gallery in Roseville, and Blue Wing Gallery in Woodland, California. She has also shown her art at various art festivals and venues in and around Northern California, and has collectors of her work all over the nation. Donine loves the creative process of taking a blank canvas or panel and seeing what beauty will emerge. Although she starts with a certain idea in mind, to her joy, the piece usually takes on a life of its own with “happy accidents” along the way. Her influences, and what she likes to portray in her work, come from urban industrial and old world European textures and patinas. Being a Graphic Designer for 20 plus years also has an effect on the balance and composition of her art. Donine Wellman lives in Rancho Cordova, California, with her husband Sid, who is also an artist.
