My goal is to arrange most compositions into a square format, not a particularly straight forward task. Keen to promote accurate and considered brushwork within this squared composition. Any painter is putting forward a tacit invitation to share a vision. How? Leaving a few elements to one's imagination. You should always bring something to the party. Have a think. Ask yourself why you've stopped for a look. Start to deconstruct the image.

Clearly inspired by photo-realism and idealistic color choices, I knowingly include a visual language of shared sensual experiences in that you know the taste of chilies, the fresh tang of salsa, the satisfying crunch of apple, of radish, teeth and tongue greeting a segment of orange. I paint in a photo-realist style and employ traditional Old Masters' techniques to achieve color depth and a finish which meets my exacting standards.

Thank you for having a closer look at my work! I hold a BFA from The San Francisco Art Institute; a MFA from Mills College in Oakland; and a MA (Art Ed.) from the University of Central England. I studied with Richard Diebenkorn, Manuel Neri, Elmer Bischoff, Frank Lobdell, Richard Graf, Nathan Oliviera at SFAI; Ralph du Casse and Antony Prieto at Mills. My career has spanned 40 years service in arts education, which has been good to me. I've met many wonderful young people and have watched with pride blossoming careers in the arts. Exhibition record in resume on my web site. I teach painting, and ceramics at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, WA., a patch work valley of working farms an hour north of Seattle midway to Vancouver, B.C. The area is famous for Tulip Season. I accept commissions for pet portraiture. A slide show of completed work is available on my website. I am also a member of Daily Paintworks and exhibit online with them.
