This is a piece that was recently featured in a gallery show at Nelson Fine Art during the month of June 2016 for Despo/Davis artwork. A great example of an original Despo/Davis painting with very thick texture, oil, enamel, acrylic, oil stick, marker, mixed media, and found objects are the media used here. It is hand cut canvas and stretched by artists on hand made stretcher. Signed by both artists and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Despo & Davis are a two-person, collaborative team that creates works of art with both individuals contributing to each piece of art they produce. As one, this pair of artists becomes a highly functioning, prolific team, producing meaningful works of art and achieving goals in positive and successful ways, likely due to specific factors within their team structure such as: similar interests and backgrounds, reciprocating camaraderie, the balance of give and take, an eagerness to work together, and common goals. However, what is most unusual about this team is that they accomplish all of this from separate states, within the U.S., which lay more than 2,000 miles apart from each other. Greg Desposito, a.k.a. "DESPO" (Los Gattos Band) and Steve Davis a.k.a. "DAVIS" (Glass Heroes Band) are both bass players, and long-standing members, of rival punk rock bands, who came together in the hopes of finding alternative creative outlets, through which they could express themselves as the individuals they are while at the same time defining their places as members of a much larger group, or the subculture, Punk Rock. Their paintings are clearly an extension and reflection of their musical backgrounds and the excitement both have felt while playing the music they love. Stratified layers of paint, found objects, old magazine clippings, and random debris included because of its close proximity, are only some of what's seen in their work. Humor is another reoccurring theme as well as bright neon colors, doodles, symbolism, and written thoughts of a personal nature, suggesting an uncertain, yet certainly less traveled path. With Despo living in Tennessee, and Davis in Arizona, they pass their unframed paintings back and forth via Post Office and communicating through pictures and emails. Using this method has only created one negative experience, for the team, that which being an incident of the post office losing two of their parcels, which were full of original paintings. Amazingly, they both showed up nearly two months later, with their contents still intact but exteriors beaten to hell. Despite this, both boxes went on to cross the country two more times before being retired from service. Soon afterward, remnants of these same boxes found their way onto the surfaces of other paintings, thus returning them to service. Currently, Despo and Davis are collaborating with a third artist: Anthony Stevens of the U.K. in a new project, which they hope to share sometime in the near future.
