I am constantly inspired by nature, colors and my environment.
My kids also have a big influence on the subjects that I choose to draw or paint.
As an artist for Disney for years, color and the whimsical attention to detail is embedded in my work.
This painting is inspired by my desire to help Save The Bees!
They are carrying satin pouches filled with pollen to help the bees do their jobs.
A farm girl from La Crosse Wisconsin, DeeDee has been an artist from the start. Graduating with a BFA in Illustration & Design from Minneapolis College of Art & Design in 1992, DeeDee moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of working as an artist in the entertainment industry. She worked as a scenic artist for NBC, feature films, commercials and various film studios until she landed her dream job as a Senior Show Artisan for Walt Disney Imagineering painting theme park attractions, their animatronic figures & character costumes. In 2011, DeeDee and her husband moved to Eugene Oregon to raise their family. She has now come full circle and is pursuing her first love of Illustration. Although she has mastered many mediums, her art has expanded from acrylics into a rediscovery of an old love of watercolors with pen & ink. DeeDee has found her missions in art by finding the need to bring awareness to the dying Bee population and is focusing on illustrating the beauty of Bees as well as her Warrior Woman Series that centers on the strengths & passions of women. Currently, DeeDee is illustrating adult coloring books while actively pursuing her art doing various shows, portrait and pet commissions and working on her line of merchandise featuring her art.
