I was not just born and raised here in the "Land of Lincoln", but grew up on a farm mid way between New Salem and Springfield IL. The family farm also had the Sangamon river as one of its borders...well if you go back in history chances are that Lincoln himself traveled over the soil or floated past at some point! Wish I could have been there...I know Mr. Lincoln had it tough, I like to think of him in possible lighter moments...and this is one...
The piece is framed in a simple contemporary black frame with protective glass. The outer dimensions of the frame are 21" x 17" x 1 1/4" deep.
David Hinds grew up on a poor river bottom farm during the 60's & 70's. He believes that his creativity was fostered out of necessity on this family farm. Although he didn't start painting until 2015, it was never far from his thoughts. Growing up just down the road from famed folk artist George Colin had left an indelible impression. With the passing of George, David decided that he himself probably wasn't going to get any younger and that just another day was too long not to paint. And so he does, almost every day! David's artwork is whimsical in nature, often calling on his rich childhood memories. Telling a story and making a connection with the viewer is a sought after goal. Working in bold colors with his unique style brings a vibrant energy to each and every piece. Being a self-taught artist David has discovered that at times, some of his best work comes from happy accidents.
