I arrived at the square to avoid the preconceived notions that accompany traditional landscape and portrait formats. In this work I am exploring the tension between minimalist and abstract expressionist mark making as well as depth of field with in a completely abstract image.
This artwork is latex, acrylic, and resin on wood panel with a high gloss finish.
My name is Danielle Halford and I was born in Birmingham, Alabama. As a small child my family moved to Plano, Texas. I currently reside in Bay Point, California and attend San Francisco Art Institute where I am pursuing an MFA. In 2011, I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Painting. I work in oil, acrylic, printmaking, and photography. I am interested in using art for activism both locally and internationally. I'm fortunate enough to have displayed work at a fundraiser benefiting Wounded Warriors. This interest has also taken me to Montreal, Canada for an HIV/AIDS art benefit. In the past, it led me to join the Plano Art Association in my home state of Texas. In 2004 I was appointed to the Board of Directors as the Social Chair at the request of Nelum Walpola, that year's President. If you have an event or fundraiser that you would be interested in having my participate feel free to contact me.
