Merging attributes of sacred geometry with buddhist mandalas and native american sand paintings, I created my own image that incorporates the cardinal directions from archived maps. As a layered sphere, their is a hierarchy and interdependence that occurs within painting. Use this as a meditational tools for relaxation and for digging to find a stronger place within. As we sit and gaze, the ultimate teaching is the here and now.
Making art for Daniel Kanow is of key importance in finding clarity and balance. He loves to paint and draw expressively with intent of raw emotion. The application of paint and use of color are tantamount for Daniel to represent the present moment. Daniel’s interest lies in the deep places of emotion that tell personal and universal narratives of fear, pain, love and beauty. His art acts as a conduit or bridge to fill emotional voids. Daniel’s process is dynamic and he invites the viewer to immerse themselves into their own stories so that the artwork may create a personal resonance. Daniel Kanow lives in Telluride, Colorado with his family. Art, family, and wilderness are his anchors for inspiration and motivation.
