This mystical piece includes the Hebrew lettering of Psalm 104 verse 24 which in English translates as "How manifold are Your works, O Lord! You have made them all with wisdom."
The acrylic on canvas brushwork contains many layers of color that lend a unique depth to the piece. The theme of "World" continues on the edges of the canvas which are greater than 2" deep and completely painted, making this work an impressive centerpiece.
In much of my work I focus on the way that light permeates and shapes our world, and how our practices in that world are in turn suffused with light. "World" expresses the spiritual "light" that is not visible to the naked eye but ever present in our lives.
Born and bred in New York City, Daniel Wolfe spent many childhood afternoons at the city's museums inspired by the symbolism of Paul Klee and the overpowering color and scale of Mark Rothko. Wolfe studied at the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan and later State University of New York, from which he graduated with a major in Studio Art in 1995. Wolfe also studied abroad in Jerusalem where he began a spiritual quest that infused his abstract expressionist style with mystical themes. He now lives and works in Brooklyn with his wife and 4 kids.
