Ready to Hang

This impressive acrylic piece is comprised of heavyweight canvas stretched on 2" deep stretcher bars. The edges are vertical edges are painted and the piece is ready for immediate hanging. The large scale wall reminds one of both the ancient stones of Jerusalem and the medieval stones of European cities.

I focus on light: the way that light permeates and shapes our world, and how our practices in that world are in turn suffused with light. As a Brooklyn native, I choose abstract forms that resemble the buildings my youth and, later, the smooth stones of Jerusalem.

Born and bred in New York City, Daniel Wolfe spent many childhood afternoons at the city's museums inspired by the symbolism of Paul Klee and the overpowering color and scale of Mark Rothko. Wolfe studied at the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan and later State University of New York, from which he graduated with a major in Studio Art in 1995. Wolfe also studied abroad in Jerusalem where he began a spiritual quest that infused his abstract expressionist style with mystical themes. He now lives and works in Brooklyn with his wife and 4 kids.
