Ready to Hang

This work is one of a series of 7 pieces that focus on an abstract or metaphysical concept often related to the Jewish holidays and mystical traditions.

In this piece I focus on the theme of being chosen or unique. The piece was inspired by the holiday of Purim, associated with celebration and drinking wine.

The 2.75 inch deep sides of this canvas are unpainted and the piece is ready to hang.

Born and bred in New York City, Daniel Wolfe spent many childhood afternoons at the city's museums inspired by the symbolism of Paul Klee and the overpowering color and scale of Mark Rothko. Wolfe studied at the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan and later State University of New York, from which he graduated with a major in Studio Art in 1995. Wolfe also studied abroad in Jerusalem where he began a spiritual quest that infused his abstract expressionist style with mystical themes. He now lives and works in Brooklyn with his wife and 4 kids.
