Damion Richards is a fine artist and visual arts teacher, who has touched many lives, through teaching. He believes that hard work and dedication is the recipe for success.ado 273 Early Childhood Damion Prince Richards was born on May 27, 1984, in St. Ann, Jamaica, to Debora Angella Foster and Lionel York. He lived with his father’s parents until he began college. He was a humble and cheerful child with an engaging personality. He earned the respect and admiration of his peers and the affection of his extended family, especially his great grandmother, Jerusha Gorden “Miss Jerr” and grandmother, Princess Brady “Miss Blossom”. He was particularly fund of his great grandmother who first introduced him to the visual arts. Damion soon discovered that for him, visual art was not just a hobby but an avenue of expression and an outlet for his creative energy and talent. It was evident to those who knew him that he would excel in this area and become known for his startlingly impressive images and dedication to his craft. Big Break School was a medium of growth and development for Damion as it provided numerous opportunities for his talent to shine. At as early as grade 4 in elementary school, he began making posters, charts and mobiles for teachers in order to earn extra money. He later won the (2002) CXC, JAPSS award for visual arts in high school. Competitions like these served to enrich his artistic sensibilities. At college his painting teacher was quite impressed with his ability to work and articulate the interpretations of his pieces and techniques therefore offered him a teaching job. Shortly after, he was offered a job with an advertising agency as a storyboard illustrator. It was through these revenue generating activities that he was able to cover his basic college and other expenses.
