I have a drawing of a chair that I made in an art class a number of years ago. This drawing keeps getting moved around in my house, but I can’t seem to throw it away. Finally I decided that there must be something important about it, so I decided to do a painting of that chair. My first idea was not at all like the end product; I was going to paint the chair black, and make it more like my original drawing; but as it developed, the brightness of the orange and red in my underpainting just couldn’t be covered over. This is what I want for myself; that the brightness of my faith will always shine through and not be hidden by any darkness.
Daniel 12:3 NIV
“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”
Sharing art is one of the best means of having closer contact with the Almighty Creator. I think God must have a great sense of humor; most people see only the serious side of Bible reading, but there really is a lot of cheer, encouragement and humor in it if you think about it. I'd like it if you would use my artwork as a starting point for conversations about encouragement and cheerfulness. I live in Northern California with my husband and three grown children, and our pets, of course. My works are primarily oil paintings, either using brushes, painting knives, rags, my fingers, and anything else I can find to make an interesting color or texture. I also enjoy creating elaborate sculptures from found and recycled materials. Anything to get my hands dirty! My love of nature, color and whimsy are apparent in my artwork.
