Ready to Hang
This I wanted to try just to draw something different than the traditional kitchen and floral still life pieces I tend to work on. I was looking at the swirls and nuances in woods and thought a wood burl pattern closeup would make a great piece! This is a small original- 5"x7" Prismacolor color pencil on Ampersand Museum quality Pastelbord. Pastelbord has a heavy tooth and holds color exceptionally well- works beautifully for a subject like this! This piece is custom framed to 8"x10" and easy to fit into a small neutral space like a hallway or bathroom; ready to hang.
I started creating art when I was young, and haven't stopped since! I've been an active drawing artist from the age of 17 on, fulfilling commissions in business logos previously and moving into portraits, still life and most recently children's book illustration. I received my BFA from Wittenberg University and currently spend time freelancing and flying around on airplanes. I take immense joy in working on commission pieces for individuals and businesses! I love working with my clients to create their perfect piece and include them each step of the way (current projects are a children's book, a portrait and 2 architectural drawings for different clients). I currently continue to do freelance work for clients and participate in juried art festivals, while keeping a happy household with a rambunctious little 6 year old to give me a hand.
