I was really wanting to do something more whimsical than all of the traditional kitchen and drink still life pieces I had been drawing. Tea cups are amazing- there are SO many varieties and types and styles. So, a stack of teacups with the whimsy background! I was thinking about Alice in Wonderland as I was working on this piece, so the bubbles arose from that along with the lace doily in the corner. Prismacolor color pencils on Ampersand museum quality Pastelbord. Original was 8"x10" and framed to 11"x14".
I started creating art when I was young, and haven't stopped since! I've been an active drawing artist from the age of 17 on, fulfilling commissions in business logos previously and moving into portraits, still life and most recently children's book illustration. I received my BFA from Wittenberg University and currently spend time freelancing and flying around on airplanes. I take immense joy in working on commission pieces for individuals and businesses! I love working with my clients to create their perfect piece and include them each step of the way (current projects are a children's book, a portrait and 2 architectural drawings for different clients). I currently continue to do freelance work for clients and participate in juried art festivals, while keeping a happy household with a rambunctious little 6 year old to give me a hand.
