I found this amazing, beautiful handmade pastel paper in an art shop in Queens, NY. A lovely, soft blue- as I am addicted to paper, I of course bought a stack to draw on! My first piece was this mermaid- I'd been toying with the idea of doing a more realistic mermaid of a lionfish. I found a beautiful African American woman to play the mermaid part- it looks lovely and meshes well together! Prismacolor color pencil on blue handmade pastel paper in 8"x10". This piece is custom framed to 11"x14" in a solid wood frame with double mat and non-glare acrylic glazing, all acid free materials.
I started creating art when I was young, and haven't stopped since! I've been an active drawing artist from the age of 17 on, fulfilling commissions in business logos previously and moving into portraits, still life and most recently children's book illustration. I received my BFA from Wittenberg University and currently spend time freelancing and flying around on airplanes. I take immense joy in working on commission pieces for individuals and businesses! I love working with my clients to create their perfect piece and include them each step of the way (current projects are a children's book, a portrait and 2 architectural drawings for different clients). I currently continue to do freelance work for clients and participate in juried art festivals, while keeping a happy household with a rambunctious little 6 year old to give me a hand.
