I wanted to do a small winery inspired piece as I had been doing several wine and art festivals. This one was fun to do as it forced me to really use that stark black background throughout the piece! I loved creating shades of green for the leaves and grapes themselves- the black really makes them pop! Prismacolor color pencils on Canson Mi Tientes black art paper. Orginal was 8"x10" and framed to 11"x14" in a rough-hewn dark wood frame.
I started creating art when I was young, and haven't stopped since! I've been an active drawing artist from the age of 17 on, fulfilling commissions in business logos previously and moving into portraits, still life and most recently children's book illustration. I received my BFA from Wittenberg University and currently spend time freelancing and flying around on airplanes. I take immense joy in working on commission pieces for individuals and businesses! I love working with my clients to create their perfect piece and include them each step of the way (current projects are a children's book, a portrait and 2 architectural drawings for different clients). I currently continue to do freelance work for clients and participate in juried art festivals, while keeping a happy household with a rambunctious little 6 year old to give me a hand.
