This is one of several monotypes I created, based on a black-and-white painting I did many years ago of two pots. A monotype is a impression on paper painted with a brush on a plate or other flat surface. I used spray bottles of turpenoid, printing ink, toothbrushes, q-tips and old brushes to create the image on a zinc plate. I then ran the plate through a printing press, printing the image on Rives BFK paper. My fascination with the organic, unexpected forms that result from the printmaking process inspired me to create this image.
