I created this piece upon returning from Bordeaux , France . One of many local delicasses are fresh oysters.
Oysters symbolize the sense of taste as well as the transitory nature of sensual desire.
My inspiration was to create something bold, graphic and modern.
The black background is smooth and velvety, highlighting complex iridescent colors that will transition with the changing light.
The color combinations and subtle variations in the layers of pigments make this piece unique unto itself..The heavy weight paper is crisp white and can be hung framed or unframed
.This piece is the same size and format as three other prints in my collection, "beach plums","lobster" and "loon" for the possibility of a displaying together.
Each print is unique and considered a monotype. There is a clean 2-3 inch white margin of paper framing the image.
I am a printmaker working in a variety of printmaking techniques. Wood block, screen printing, mono- types and dry point. Works on paper are my medium.
