Curator's Note: Crisp and airy, this painting seems to lift our spirits.
The reason I chose the title for this piece was from how I look out at the Pacific Ocean and try to see how many waves are coming in at a time. Waves come in sets and I love to try and watch each set begin and end.
I created this piece as part of my ongoing theme centered on horizon. Sometimes it is hard to see where the earth ends and the sky begins. I wanted to explore that here in this piece.
This painting is oil on wrapped canvas with sides that are also painted in continuity with the painting. No frame is needed.
I am a painter. I have loved painting all my life. I studied Art and Art History at UC Berkeley, and have been painting professionally ever since. I have shown in galleries and museums all over California, and have sold hundreds of paintings all over the world, from New York, to Finland and Qatar. I am inspired by nature, color and emotion. Hopefully you will get a sense of calm, happiness, or wonder from what I paint. I'm not out to make political statements with my work, but to express joy and gratitude of life through the medium of oil paints. Claire Whitehead
