The reason I chose the title for this piece is from the pattern of space between the trees along the road. It makes me think about the sound changes as one passes by objects when driving past. These trees make a rhythm without movement. They are stationary on the canvas, yet suggest a regularity and rhythm.
I created this piece a few years ago when I was beginning to get involved with a minimalist approach to the landscape.
My inspiration in creating this piece is from the rural parts of California I often enjoy when driving the state.
I am a painter. I have loved painting all my life. I studied Art and Art History at UC Berkeley, and have been painting professionally ever since. I have shown in galleries and museums all over California, and have sold hundreds of paintings all over the world, from New York, to Finland and Qatar. I am inspired by nature, color and emotion. Hopefully you will get a sense of calm, happiness, or wonder from what I paint. I'm not out to make political statements with my work, but to express joy and gratitude of life through the medium of oil paints. Claire Whitehead
