The story of Heero is one that is developing in my imagination. He is a boy who--in waking life--struggles with shyness and anxiety, but who finds the courage to persevere and shine in his dreams. In this scene, Heero presents an orb he has collected in the hopes it will persuade the Shadow Titan to grant him passage into the Land of Shadow.

I have hardly any formal education in visual arts. Beyond the taught concepts of being observant and gesture-line drawing, I am entirely self-taught. For me, creating art is about process, and art isn’t intrinsically tied to advocacy. I want themes and underpinnings to arise organically, as subconscious manifestations of my efforts to connect with what I feel. To this end, I allow myself to get lost within my interaction with my materials. I follow my deepest instincts, and try to reconcile my conscious mind with that part of me that has no name, the part that is not really me, but simply “is.” I work with that which haunts me, in all of my art. Nothing’s too strange; nothing’s too ordinary. The beautiful paradox is that by focusing on my own connections to the work, I find that I’m able to create objects to which others can connect as well. And so, I do this to satisfy myself, and the satisfaction comes from the doing.

My name is Christopher Cascio. I am a painter, illustrator, English professor, writer, and editor based in New York and Pennsylvania. I specialize in portraiture, but work with whatever subject matter and media that captivates me. I do take commissions, and thank you for visiting my portfolio.
