Ready to Hang
I created this piece by pouring a mixture of fluid acrylics and pouring medium on the canvas, and then tilted and rotated the canvas to distribute the paint and allowed gravity to inject an element of randomness.
The painting is protected from dust and UV rays by three coats of Golden Polymer Varnish (Gloss). It is signed, dated and titled on the back; it is wired; the sides are painted a metallic blue; and it is ready to hang once it arrives. It does not need to be framed.
My name is Chris Hood, and I am a painter living and working in Birmingham, Alabama. While majoring in philosophy in college I took a couple of classes in art history, thus beginning my interest in art. I first considered taking up painting at that time, but life (including law school following college) got in the way. After more than 20 years as a trial lawyer, I recently began pursuing my true passion for art. Painting has allowed me to be creative in a way that I never could in the legal world, where creativity is generally frowned upon. My work is inspired primarily by the Color Field/Post-Painterly Abstractionists of the 50s and 60s, chief among them Morris Louis and Gene Davis. As a result, color is the driving force behind my paintings; and the bolder and brighter those colors are, the better. Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
