Ready to Hang
This piece was created using a mixture of fluid acrylics and pouring medium, which I poured in a generally diagonal manner (the curvature in the lines resulted from the free-flowing nature of the paint/pouring medium mixture). The painting is protected from dust and UV rays by two coats of Golden Polymer Varnish (Gloss). It is signed, dated and titled on the back; it is wired; the sides are painted a metallic light blue; and it is ready to hang when it arrives. It does not need to be framed.
My name is Chris Hood, and I am a painter living and working in Birmingham, Alabama. While majoring in philosophy in college I took a couple of classes in art history, thus beginning my interest in art. I first considered taking up painting at that time, but life (including law school following college) got in the way. After more than 20 years as a trial lawyer, I recently began pursuing my true passion for art. Painting has allowed me to be creative in a way that I never could in the legal world, where creativity is generally frowned upon. My work is inspired primarily by the Color Field/Post-Painterly Abstractionists of the 50s and 60s, chief among them Morris Louis and Gene Davis. As a result, color is the driving force behind my paintings; and the bolder and brighter those colors are, the better. Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
