The creative process has been an integral aspect of my life since I began painting passionately in 1999. With each piece, adherence to the process ensures completion of the work. I rely upon intuition by gravitating to shapes and colors that intrigue me. Each mark is a confirmation to, or rebuttal of, the preceding marks. To me, their collective presence and interaction reflects correlatives between aesthetics, language, nature, and interpersonal dynamics.
Born and raised in a southern city, I ventured out to college in Milledgeville and Athens, Ga. I studied for a summer in Italy and a semester teaching in Guadalajara, Mexico. I returned home for a minute before making my way through Austin, Tx for a year and then settling in Richmond, Va for a while teaching high school art. Another return to Augusta and I've stuck around, save for some time away for an internship. I now work in self-directed education and mentoring. And I paint. In fact, all those places I've been through included painting, whether I was slinging coffee, teaching kids, rolling burritos, maintaining parts in a chemical plant, making tables, weeding plants, recommending beer, or curating shows.
