My inspiration is the simple beauties in every day objects.
"Looking in" is my focus. Most of my recent works are related to simple forms such as flowers and other daily objects; items people see but forget. In my paintings, I am not attempting to make a reproduction of the object, rather a representation of the object. They are not "real" or "realistic" but they resemble the beauty we know. They are magnified to remind us their existence.
My inspiration is from the simple beauty found in everyday objects. I was trained as a designer—not a painter. My method combines my two art worlds together, design and paint. I work in analog paintings and digital compositions. I usually plan things ahead in my digital world, but I won’t let it confine my works. I just let it happen and see where color, shape, and brush strokes take me to. I can probably tell you the ideas and thoughts behind each painting I’ve done, but if you are drawn to a particular painting, you must have already added your own story to it. I would love to have you add your interpretation and make it your own. Currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area, I have been focusing my creativity on painting, as well as serving on the board of directors for Art in Every Classroom, a non profit organization that strives to bring more art education to primary and middle schools. I also teach design at the Academy of Art University web and multimedia department in San Francisco. Please visit my website for more creative works: changyingart.com
