This is a painting of a view of Water Street in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn, NY. I painted it from sketches and photos that I made while I lived near there a few years ago. This was a cold winter day, but I was trying to capture the warmth of this place even in the cold weather. This oil on paper painting has been made on watercolor paper that has been stretched similar to stretched canvas.
After graduating from the Pratt Institute with a degree in Art Education and painting, I’ve been living in Redding Connecticut and working as a painter and printmaker and sculptor . I have also been an art educator for the past 12 years. I teach art to grades three through five in the public schools. When I am not teaching or making art I am traveling with my family, hiking and camping around the national parks in the U.S. or abroad. I have always loved travel, the outdoors and landscapes.
