captured is based on my experiences with the struggles of life. we have all been captured and imprisoned by something in our own lives. this piece is based on my own cancer journey. the wear and tear of life can affect both the body and our soul. captured is based on that internal pain that is often ignored by others and often not seen.
charcoal and pastels can be powerful. strong colors are combined with gestural movements and abstract imagery. the strong bold lines only amplify the soft pale colors on the paper.
